GREAT DAY AT DOG ADOPTION EVENT
Had a great time at the Nissan Dealer's 7th annual car show and dog adoption event today, met Susan Olsen and Colleen Preci she is the wonderful volunteer at the San Bernardino City Animal Shelter that hosted this event and I hope there are many more to come.

I spent a few hours walking the dogs and getting to know some wonderful people.

It is a great way to get these dogs out of the shelter and in front of people that can adopt them, while I was there 6 dogs got adopted including Sailor who is fabulous and will be a great addition to his new family

THE TROUBLE TREE
I found this on Melissa Kahler Facebook page and thought is was a wonderful story to share

I hired a plumber to help me restore an old farmhouse, and after he had just finished a rough first day on the job: a flat tire made him lose an hour of work, his electric drill quit and his ancient one ton truck refused to start.

While I drove him home, he sat in stony silence. On arriving, he invited me in to meet his family. As we walked toward the front door, he paused briefly at a small tree, touching the tips of the branches with both hands.

When opening the door he underwent an amazing transformation.. His face was wreathed in smiles and he hugged his two small children and gave his wife a kiss.

Afterward he walked me to the car. We passed the tree and my curiosity got the better of me. I asked him about what I had seen him do earlier.

'Oh, that's my trouble tree,' he replied 'I know I can't help having troubles on the job, but one thing's for sure, those troubles don't belong in the house with my wife and the children.. So I just hang them up on the tree every night when I come home and ask God to take care of them. Then in the morning I pick them up again.' 'Funny thing is,' he smiled,' when I come out in the morning to pick 'em up, there aren't nearly as many as I remember hanging up the night before.

THIS ONE IS WORTH SENDING ON.

Life may not be the party we hoped for, but while we are here we might as well dance. We all need a Tree!

HEARD FROM OUR SON ZACHERY TODAY ON HIS TRAVELS
Just got a message from Zachery Miller on facebook

hey dad, just checking in to let you know where im at. Ipiales, Colomobia. The whole country is "parolizado". apparently the people are very angry at their government and the laws they set, so all transit has been paralyzed and no busses or commercial transport is moving. Ipiales is the first city you arrive at when entering colombia, and im at not able to get any further at this point. I am hoping and waiting for the opportunity to go to the coast, so i can work and live their on my way up to panama. When that will be, i have no idea, and i dont have wifi so i wont be in much contact until the situation changes. I am sleeping in a cultural house, basically means that i am living with a bunch of travellers, mainly from colombia. nobody locks their doors, pay a dollar per night or less, i sleep on the floor, pretty awesome experience truly. everyone is allowed to paint the walls or decorate in whatever manner they wish. As for the city, pretty awesome too, their have been marches in the streets trying to get the governments attention. today as well i will be going to a planned march with some of the people from the house. we may sell sandwiches or rice pudding or something just to make a few dollars to survive day to day. rest assure everything is incredible and im living great. healthier than ever, moor open minded, everything. gotta go because im paying to use this computer, love you and hope everything is equally great up their. talk soon.

VACATION IN THE FINGER LAKES
I just finished a short vacation in the Finger Lakes (New York wine country). While there, I saw my first hummingbird land in it's nest and my first Bald Eagle! It flew over so close I could see his eyes! All from the cabin lawn! For those of you that haven't seen a Ruby-Throated Hummingbird nest, it is worth a look on Google. I have seen them in hand, and at a distance, but never with a momma on it.

FREE BATHROOM!
So basically, the story goes that I was running through a pretty tough hill for some excercise. I was about half way through my run when I decided I REALLY needed to use the bathroom. Also, out here in Peru every public bathroom costs money, but the area I was in is fairly poor and has no restaurants or areas with public restrooms. But as I was running I saw a man standing in his doorway, so I decided to ask; "señor, puedo usar tu bano?"
He replied "tu quieres te presto me bano? (You want me to lend you my bathroom)"
"Si señor" I said
"Ok, pasa!"
This man, who probably has very little money, let me use his non functioning toilet (you want to bring a bucket of water to flush it) and the tiny bit of toilet paper he had. Now that is courtesy I truly admire. I wish he could understand how thankful I was for that deed.
Thank you again, señor.
